Brainiacs C-Hub hosted a group of 17 girls from the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) on the 4th and 11th respectively for a four hours Robotics and Coding session. They were introduced to the basics of programming (Python Programming: concepts of algorithm, creating programs for calculating perimeters and Areas of shapes). They were also introduced to the basics of Robotics (Assembling and programming an educator vehicle model), participants were so excited and they learned to work as a team in getting their projects done efficiently and effectively.

W.TEC is a Nigerian non-governmental organization working for the economic and social empowerment of girls and women, using information and communication technologies (ICTs). They have chosen to focus on this area because statistical evidence has shown that in most African countries, women’s use and knowledge of ICTs (to store, share, organise and process information) is lower than men’s, denying them of income-generating opportunities and the chance to network with others.

This is in line with one of Brainiacs STEM and Robotics primary objectives, proffering skills on problem solving through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to the generation, socially and economically preparing the young learners for the future with the necessary skill they require to be globally competitive.

With the existence of a common vision (Empowering the Youths) a partnership was formed between W.TEC and Brainiacs STEM & Robotics.

Brainiacs STEM & Robotics will continue to do our best to develop the next generation of scientists and engineers in Nigeria.
