3D Modeling & 3D Printing Bootcamp Jos

Brainiacs STEM & Robotics is setting up a 3D Modeling and Design team in Jos to train prospective 3D enthusiast and serve the imaging 3D Printing market in Nigeria and the west African sub region.
Brainiacs Perspective on 3D Modeling and Printing: The use of 3D printing revolutionized how models and other engineering tools were made. With a few keystrokes and careful clicks, multiple copies of exact models could now be produced in a fraction of the time it would take someone to hand-craft the same model. Engineers began to realize that 3D printers can be utilized for more than simply creating prototypes; they saw they it was the key to unlock many other problems and difficulties in engineering. Recent developments in civil engineering have also revolutionized the field of affordable housing, as the use of 3D printers greatly diminishes the cost and resources needed to build a house. A Chinese engineering company recently constructed an entire home in less than 24 hours using only a 3D printer and recycled materials.
Brainiacs STEM & Robotics Bootcamp Overview: Unlike taking courses like this via the internet, participants will have the opportunity to work with the 3D Printer in small groups. At the end of the course, participants will take an online quiz to further gauge their understanding of 3D modeling & printing. For students currently enrolled in any accredited Monotechnic, Polytechnic, College of Education and University – in Nigeria – can join Brainiacs Hardware Club for free to enable them borrow hardware for their projects (subject to availability) if they can secure a faculty surety. Brainiacs team can also provide mentorship to students towards their final Projects. You can’t deny that 3D printing is amazing. It gives you a tiny manufacturing plant right inside your school, company, place of work etc., where participant can bring their imaginations to life. 1. Creating Innovators & Inventors: 3D printing technology positions you as creators. Instead of consumers of creations of someone else you become the inventors of your own creations. Have a look at a boy named William Grame, a diabetic, who invented a sanitary device for storing his used blood testing strips. What genius inventions are you or your children waiting to create?
2. Reviving Art: Although art is already making a bit of a comeback with the advent of STEAM education, 3D printing will help boost art to the top. With 3D printing students become designers and creators using cutting edge technology to visualize and create their own imaginations. Thereby increasing their thinking, creativity and problem solving skills.
3. Creating Relevant Digital Citizens: Using 3D printing in the place of work or classroom will allow you to become a part of the growing online community dedicated to 3D printing. Specifically, with Brainiacs, participants will have the ability to like and comment on their peer’s designs that will be uploaded on the Brainiacs website for the world to see, this will go a long way to inspire insightful discussions in the 3D design boot camp activities and how to be responsible and relevant in the digital world.
4. Making Everything Practical-based: Seriously, everything can be put into virtual practices. Learning about gears? Design and print a model of a gear. Learning about pulley systems? Design and print a typical pulley system. Learning about natural disasters? Design and print tools to protect you during a disaster. The list goes on and on…
5. Engaging Uninterested Learners: 3D printing is still a very new technology that is not readily available to an average consumer. It has a surprising factor that can engage people who would otherwise have nothing to do with learning. Some schools use 3D printing to re-engage students who have dropped out of high school, giving them a second chance to having quality education.
6. Building Connections amongst Children: The boot camp will help build ties amongst people, by partnering up like minds to work on a 3D printing challenge together. Brainiacs 3D Modelling and Printing boot camp will engage participants to shine and learn the value of being a good teacher. A friendly 3D printing competition is also a great way to build every participant’s morale. Perhaps challenge yourself to create a 3D design that can be useful to you or people around you.
7. Solving Real World Problems: 3D printing is a technology that scientists and engineers are using to change the world. Who attend? This course is ideal for Graduates, Engineers, Innovators, Designers and students who like to draw, design or imagine, and then see their creations come to life. Participants who display creativity and the willingness to tinker will do well in this course. Participants should come up with ideas and designs that will be useful to the society and where best we can apply it.
Eligibility for attending Brainiacs STEM & Robotics 3D Modeling and Printing Bootcamp
- Engineering: Whether mechanical, software or industrial, with 3D printing comes the need for engineers who can operate the devices. What’s more, engineers will use 3D printers to model and draft various components for manufacturing and, eventually, perhaps even buildings. A degree in engineering is an ideal way to get your foot in the 3D printing door, particularly if there’s an emphasis on 3D printing and modeling
- Animation and Design: 3D animation uses many of the same tools as 3D printing. Software and modeling are used to essentially create something out of nothing, which is exactly what 3D printing aspires to. When you have a degree in 3D animation or design, you’ll already have the necessary tools to understand how 3D printing and modeling works in a variety of applications, from manufacturing toys to creating a scale home model.
- Computer and Software Design: For now, the software that accompanies 3D printing applications can be confusing and bulky. As time goes on and new developments are conceived, however, sleeker and more user-friendly programs will be needed to help the layman learn how to use the technology. What’s more, developers have only discovered a sliver of what could be accomplished using a 3D printer. Aside the mentioned professions, applicants MUST possess the following skills;
- A working understanding of a design or modeling tool such Autocad, CATIA etc.
- Technical drawing knowledge

- Basic project management skills.
Course Description: Learn how to create your very own 3D models from scratch! On our 3D Digital Modelling & Printing course you’ll learn how to take a simple piece of geometry and shape it into anything you want. We’ll explore how a 3D model is built up of vertices and polygons, and how we can use this knowledge when modelling. The course will cover numerous techniques and approaches to digital modelling which are widely used by industry professionals today.
Successful Participant are required to come along with the following
- Educator PC with access to PowerPoint presentation graphics program
- QuickTime application program
- Internet connection
- Participant PCs (A Mac or Windows Laptop)

After Course support: After training participants will have two months after training support via letslearn.ng. Lesson notes, course folder, lesson materials will be made available for download online for free.
Participants that demonstrated proficiency in 3D modeling, design and project management have a chance of joining Brainiacs STEM & Robotics’ 3DSpretrum team either as full time staff or freelance outsourcing specialist.
